Over the past five years, we have expanded our overall program by offering the new Hilton Head Jazz Clinic focused on beginning instrumentalists from ages 10-14 who have only been playing 1-2 years on their instrument.  The clinic is a mini-version of the full jazz camp typically taking place for a week in June daily from 1-4pm on the campus of Hilton Head Christian Academy with a final concert on the last day of the clinic.  With a focus on basic jazz technique, instrument masterclasses, beginning jazz theory and ensemble playing, you will be amazed on what these kids can accomplish in 5 days. Although our 2020 Clinic was cancelled due to COVID-19, we can assure you that we will be back in 2021!

As part of the jazz clinic tuition, we typically include a special full day music trip midweek to beautiful neighboring Savannah, Georgia to tour local music factories and learn more about the roots of jazz.  It’s always a memorable five days for our beginner jazz students.

The jazz clinic is primarily taught by director James Berry, upcoming faculty and former alumni of the main Hilton Head Jazz Camp, who are now young professional musicians.  The purpose of the clinic is to help beginners take their first step towards learning jazz in order to prepare for the larger main camp in the future.
